Terroir & Vinification
The vineyard of Domaine Larribère covers 11 hectares planted with three grape varieties (mostly Tannat).
Surrounded by the Gave d’Oloron and the Gave de Pau, the estate’s clay-limestone soil brings a lovely minerality.
Hand-picked and harvested. The grapes are placed in tank after destemming for a 10-day maceration. Fermentation and extraction of tannins and colour take place before a 24-month maturation in tank.
Each wine has its own story...
In Béarnais, “La Clouque” refers to the brooding hen who shelters her young beneath her wings. This silhouette is reminiscent of the traditional architecture of the farmhouses in the Salies-de-Béarn area, which is how it came to bear the name “Clouque“.
