Terroir & Winemaking
Surrounded by the Gave d’Oloron and the Gave de Pau, the vineyard of Domaine Larribère covers 11 hectares planted with three grape varieties (mostly Tannat). The estate’s clay-limestone soil brings a lovely minerality.
Hand-picked and harvested. Wine made by direct pressing, favoring a gentle extraction of aromas and an attractive color. Aged on fine lees for 3 months, which gives the wine a beautiful structure.
Each cuvée has its own story...
In Béarnais, “La Clouque” refers to the brooding hen who shelters her young beneath her wings. This silhouette is reminiscent of the traditional architecture of the farmhouses in the Salies-de-Béarn area, which is how it came to bear the name “Clouque“.
